Ways to determine whether an Instagram Ambassador/Influencer position is a scam or it's legit

Have you ever been contacted by a random Instagram account page saying that they love your account /feed and would love to collaborate with you? Asking you to DM them? Have you ever wondered it is legit? Where they give you a lot of benefits for free but just asking you to pay for shipping fees etc? Or receive a 50% voucher? Well, this will be based on my experiences.

FIRSTLY,

they told you that they love your feed and would love to collaborate with you, HOWEVER, if they truly want to collaborate with you, they wouldn't even ask you to pay for it? They will simply give you the items for free and then ask you to promote for them. Or either they will pay you for promoting for them.

SECONDLY,

from the way they texted you, you can actually get a hint of whether they are legitimate or not. Some use a lot of words such as "Sweetie, I love your photo a lot", "Sweetie, you can get a discount off". I mean if they are an official company I really doubt they will be so informal, usually they will be a little formal while addressing.

Thirdly,

It seems that they are using a very smart way to get 'free promotion' and also 'free money'. Think about it, they said that you can get free accessories or clothes or whatever, but you have to pay for the shipping fee. Like what? They should be paying you the money instead because you are promoting them? Yet you still have to dig out your money first? I mean if the item you get is worth the price then why not but if it's not and you just be getting a lousy material, it's not worth it. At the end of the day, they gained it. Can't really say it is a scam because they do give you your items but it's not worth it. It is indirectly a scam.

Fourthly,

Check other websites like Facebook, youtube, etc. Are they also popular/famous or as engaging as they are on Instagram? If it's not it is highly likely not worth it because they only engage with their followers on Instagram and it shows that they are only popular on Instagram. They leave their other platforms hanging and only focused on one platform, real official companies will focus all of them.

Fifth,

Check the price of the item, is it worth it? Don't be blinded by the word 'free' and it's totally not worth it to promote an item for them where you already paid for it. They can simply get an item from Taobao or other places where it is cheap and they are selling at a ridiculous price. For example, glasses that I can get at Shopee for $1-$10 but they are selling it at $50-$100+. It is so ridiculous. You could say their material differs but honestly how worth it, it is that they sell it at nearly $100?

In conclusion, I hope you can check their background first before happily jumping in because they like to target small influencers/people who aspire to become an influencer to promote them for free indirectly. So please check, or if you really had no idea feel free to drop me an email or DM me on my Instagram. I am more than happy to check for you!
